This modern master suite boasts white walls, warm-light hardwoods, and views to get lost in. This master suite renovation completely reinvigorated this couples’ space, bringing everyday luxury into their lives.

Modern Master Suite – Rooms with a View

This master suite has it all — spacious bedroom and luxury bath, office nook with plenty of storage space, and a lower level lounging area. Each room takes advantage of glorious views of woodland with the Hudson River just beyond it.

This was a renovation project in upstate New York. The existing part of the house was completely gutted, in order to reinvent it as this light and airy master suite. Cutting away sections of existing walls opened the space up, making it feel much larger. The unifying white wall color also aids in making the space feel bright, clean and airy.

The use of white walls and fixtures makes the space feel expansive and clean, while the light and dark wood accents are warm and create a grounding effect. The use of wood inside also helps connect the space with natural elements and the superb views of water and foliage outside.

The layout, views, and design details all combine to create the perfect space to recharge, connect, and relax.

Master Bedroom

The dark wood accent wall behind the bed creates a striking backdrop to this clean and simple space. Functionally, matching night stands and reading lights provide storage and a little nook for reading materials. The wrought iron bed frame helps to maintain the airy and spacious feel of the room.

Master Bathroom

Like the rest of the suite, the walls in the bathroom are also white. In this case, a larger section this room was accented with the darker walnut wood panels to add drama. Porcelain floor tile with a marble pattern creates the look of marble, without the cost. The deep soaking tub is porcelain, has room for two, and fantastic views of the backyard. The modern vanity is extra large for ample storage space, and allows each person their own sink and mirror.

Undermount sinks were chosen to maintain the clean, uninterrupted line of the counter. The whole vanity is mounted a foot above the floor, which not only avoids stubbed toes in the morning, it adds levity to this large piece. Shower (not shown) rounds out the functionality of this space.

Home Office and Lounge Area

This home office area was deliberately kept simple – computer, desk and chair – so the couple can check email, surf the web, and then quickly get back to life’s simple pleasures.

Frosted acrylic sliding panels were selected to mildly camouflage the storage space with built in shelves. This keeps everything tidy and just barely out of sight.
