Long Island Sound Luxury Renovation
This design is a renovation and addition for a mid-century American-Mediterranean house. Located on the Long Island Sound, the design transitions spaces between Traditional and Modern architecture. The overall design concept provided connected living spaces for a growing family. They had extensive requirements for a complex and demanding life. Working with an architect helped them prioritize how their livelihoods and home could be enhanced through great design.
Modern Architecture: Design Details
The existing house was fully gutted and outfitted with a newly designed aesthetic. The architect included amenities such as high-end finishes and millwork, whole-house integrated lighting, security, and Audio/Visual systems. The architect worked along with complimentary interiors by Drake Design Associates and a landscape design by Janice Parker.
The House
Modern insertions designed into a traditional architectural style results in a cohesive, luxurious living space. A new guest wing comprises the addition. This addition includes a garage, pool house, fitness room, and an in-law apartment with a living space, kitchen and two bedroom/bathroom suites. Master planning the site was also a priority. Maximizing usable are along the waterfront is challenging on steep slopes, so terraces were developed for walkways, gardens, and a patio with an infinity pool.
Luxury Design
The house showcases exquisite stone work, wood craftsmanship, and has the amenities to support the clients’ lifestyles: wine cellar, tennis court, gym, pool, guest spaces, media room, a killer garage, home offices, and is complete with a stone-clad boat house built into the terraced landscape.
